Instructions: Replacing the new surrounds on a Jbl Control 1G
The most common problem with speakers are rotten, torn or damaged surrounds. Constant vibration, moisture and the time cause foam, rubber and cloth surrounds to degrade. This causes distortion or the speaker to lose sound. Our easy to install repair kits will make your old speakers sound just like brand new. Below is an image showing how you can restore your speakers to their original condition. The replacement surround is 100% compatible and has the same technical structure. Therefore, we guarantee the original sound quality after your speakers have been repaired. Let's begin.
First, the front cover must be removed. To unscrew the 6 screws, generally turn them counterclockwise (left-handed). Use a suitable screwdriver or power drill.
After removing the 6 screws, carefully remove the front cover. Otherwise, you could damage the connecting cables. The front cover is attached with silicone, so it may be a little difficult to remove; please remove it slowly.
To remove the speaker from its housing, you will need to loosen four screws. Since the woofer is glued in place with silicone, disassembly can be a little tricky; please remove the woofer slowly.
Use a utility knife to remove any remaining old surround material from the membrane. The surface to be glued must be dry and clean. Important: The more thoroughly the surround material is removed, the better your result will be.
Apply the adhesive to the area to be bonded using a brush. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to all surfaces to be bonded.
Place the new surround under the cone. The adhesive will not dry immediately, giving you enough time to position the surround in the center of the cone. Now wait at least one hour for it to dry. If any adhesive runs beyond the area to be bonded, clean it up with a damp cloth.
The adhesive dries clear. You can easily test if the surround has been correctly attached by pressing the diaphragm with your finger and then releasing it. If the voice coil doesn't touch the magnet, there's no scratching noise and you've done it correctly!
Once the glue has dried, the speakers can be used! Since 2010, we have had customers who have easily and successfully repaired their speakers! New ones are added every day!
